Smoke alarms are more subject to particles and contamination.
If they settled inside the detection chamber of your unit don t be surprised to hear your smoke alarm going off as often as every 10 minutes or so.
Attics and garages both reach temperatures that are outside the range limitations of most smoke alarms.
They sometimes crawl into the area with the sensors and set off the alarm.
Note that there are a few manufactures who do make detectors for a wider range of temperatures i e.
They will go from 15 to 200 degrees fahrenheit.

Crawlies especially like fire alarms since they re on the ceiling where they can live out of the way and uninterrupted.
Clean the smoke detector the same way you would clean for dust.
